Out with the old and in with the new! When it’s time to change your motorcycle turn signals, you may need some guidance on the best way to do this. Simply follow this guide created to help you install your motorcycle led turn signals safely and easily.
Installing LED turn signals on a motorcycle:
- Before doing anything else, disconnect the negative cable from your battery to prevent a short-circuit.
- Remove the front fairing or if you’re changing the rear turn signal lights, remove the seat first and unscrew your tail fairing.
- Then remove the old turn signal lights and screw in your new ones.
- Take your new motorcycle LED turn signal lights and hook up the wires of the LEDs to the wires of your motorcycle, as usual you’re going to solder positive to positive and negative to negative.
- Polarity is important here, so test them out first and if you have them hooked up the wrong way, simply switch them around and they should work.
- Next install your resistors, you’ll need these to avoid your LEDs from hyper flashing, they should be pre-wired in parallel, they have no polarity so you can go ahead and put them in any way you choose.
- Resistors get extremely hot so they’ll need to be placed somewhere relatively cool and should never be fully enclosed or mounted near plastic parts.
Now that you know how to install LED turn signals on a motorcycle and it’s all set up, you may discover that something’s not quite right. You flip the switch and realize that your new motorcycle LED turn signals are not blinking, and after all your hard work! There are few things more frustrating.

- Your new bulbs might not draw enough current.
- One of your wires could be reversed or grounded.
- Your flasher wire could be faulty or not connected at all.
- You’ve blown a fuse.
- Your relay connection is not functioning correctly.
- One bulb of the bulbs has burnt out.

Hi i have fit led indicators on my suzuki gs 500 with new relay for led my problem is i have bought arelay bulb for my turn signal on my dash with bulbholder .it has got wires from it have connectied to turn signal switch on dash but when i switch to left bulb doesn’t light but when i switch right it flashes but is very dull do you think i need a resister on it if so how do i fix it? I recently bought a 2022 Honda Navi for kind of a little get around bike while camping (Love it by the way). One thing I always like to do with any new vehicle is to change all the halogen light bulbs over to LED.
-First I tried just installing the bulbs to see if it was going to be an easy job. It didn’t work at all.
-I did some research about it and found that I had to remove the two brown wires to bypass the rectifier and combine them to run straight to an add-a-fuse in the fuse box.
-I installed some high quality built-in CanBus LED’s and now the turn signal won’t flash at all. So I installed one CanBus LED in the rear and one non-CanBus LED in the back thinking that the two CanBus bulbs weren’t working together and the turn signals STILL won’t flask at all!
-I put one CanBus LED in the rear and a halogen in the front and it works perfect.
Problem is that I don’t want no dumb halogen bulbs. So what can I do to fix this issue to where I can use LED’s all the way around?
Hi I have led indicators on a honda hornet 600 2002. I can only get one of the rear indicator to work at a time.
When it does it fast flashing.
I have replaced relay with new relay for led.
But nothing happens.
Any thoughts would be great full.
